A historic milestone for ProChess INDIA’s very first student

We are delighted to announce that Shitiz Prasad has officially crossed the 2000 FIDE Rating mark, achieving a major milestone in his chess journey. According to his FIDE profile, Shitiz has now crossed the prestigious 2000 rating barrier in classical chess.

For many chess players, reaching a 2000 FIDE rating is a dream. It represents years of dedication, tournament experience, disciplined training, and the ability to consistently compete against strong opposition. For Shitiz, this achievement is the result of a journey that began nearly four years ago with a simple decision—to learn and improve every single day.

The Beginning: ProChess INDIA’s First Student

When Shitiz joined ProChess INDIA in June 2022, he became the very first student of our academy.

At that time, nobody could predict how far he would go. What stood out was not extraordinary talent or immediate results, but something even more important: consistency.

From the very beginning, Shitiz showed qualities that every successful chess player needs:

  • Strong discipline
  • Willingness to work hard
  • Curiosity to learn
  • Fearlessness in trying new ideas
  • Commitment to long-term improvement

While many young players take breaks from training, switch hobbies frequently, or lose motivation after setbacks, Shitiz stayed focused on the process.

No Breaks, Only Progress

One of the most remarkable aspects of Shitiz’s journey has been his consistency.

Over the years, he continued training, studying, analyzing games, and playing tournaments without losing momentum. Improvement in chess is rarely linear. Every ambitious player experiences setbacks, rating drops, missed opportunities, and difficult tournaments.

What separates successful players from the rest is their response to those challenges.

Shitiz learned to treat every tournament as a learning experience. Instead of becoming discouraged by losses, he used them as feedback to improve his game.

That mindset has been one of the biggest reasons behind his steady rise in strength.

Courage on the Chessboard

Strong chess players are not only good calculators—they are also willing to make brave decisions.

One quality that has always impressed us about Shitiz is his courage during games.

Many players prefer safe positions and familiar territory. Shitiz has never been afraid to:

  • Enter complex positions
  • Play ambitious openings
  • Experiment with new ideas
  • Take calculated risks
  • Fight for the initiative

This willingness to step outside his comfort zone accelerated his growth and helped him develop into a well-rounded competitive player.

A Student Who Loves Learning

Perhaps the most important quality behind Shitiz’s success is his attitude toward learning.

He never hesitates to explore new opening systems, analyze mistakes, or study unfamiliar positions. He focuses on improving his understanding of the game. This growth mindset has allowed him to continuously evolve as a player. In modern chess, where improvement depends on constant adaptation, the ability to learn quickly is one of the greatest strengths a player can possess.

The Significance of Crossing 2000 FIDE

The 2000 FIDE barrier is much more than just a number.

It represents:

  • Strong positional understanding
  • Reliable calculation skills
  • Tournament experience
  • Endgame competence
  • Opening preparation
  • Mental resilience

Players who cross 2000 FIDE have demonstrated that they can consistently perform against strong rated opposition and maintain a high level of play over a long period of time.

For Shitiz, this achievement is a reflection of years of dedicated work and thousands of hours spent studying and competing.

An Inspiration for Every Young Chess Player

Shitiz’s journey offers an important lesson for aspiring chess players. Success in chess is not always about talent alone.

It is about:

  • Showing up consistently
  • Learning from mistakes
  • Trusting the training process
  • Remaining disciplined
  • Continuing to improve even when results are slow

His story proves that long-term commitment and the right mindset can lead to extraordinary results.

Congratulations, Shitiz!

From becoming the first student of ProChess INDIA to crossing the prestigious 2000 FIDE rating milestone, Shitiz’s journey has been truly inspiring.

We are incredibly proud of his achievements and even more proud of the person he has become through chess—disciplined, hardworking, fearless, and always eager to learn.

This milestone is not the finish line. It is another step toward even greater achievements in the future.
